My name is Nathan Betzen, though you should probably already know that if you've reached
this section. I'm a second year law student who is interested in Employment law, Tax
law, and Litigation. I come from a small town near Wichita, KS called Andale, but
these days I live in Lenexa, KS, or Kansas City to those not from the area.
I spent my undergraduate years majoring in Psychology and minoring in German at KU,
after an unfortunate stint in computer engineering. As an undergraduate, I was a member
of Triangle Fraternity and the Psychology Honor Society. I also volunteered with the
Audio Reader Network and spent a summer studying abroad in Germany. I graduated from
KU in 2003 and spent the next two and a half years getting a Masters degree in Applied
Psychology at Montana State University in Bozeman. From that experience I learned two
important things: stereotyping is really easy, and I don't like snow in May.
I chose KU for any number of reasons. I had applied to and been accepted by a number
of different schools around the nation. In my personal experience, KU really did
deliver the best "bang for the buck." I also know all about the thrill of watching
a basketball game at Allen Fieldhouse.
Now that I've been here for a year, I feel very comfortable in saying that I chose
wisely. I've taken part in the International Law Society, Traffic Court, and the
American Constitution Society, as well as any number of group sponsored fundraisers
and benefits. In addition - and somewhat unexpectedly - I've actually developed
friendships with a few of the KU Law faculty. I am usually the last person to make
friends with teachers, yet the environment at KU is so open that developing connections
is practically unavoidable. If you have any questions or just want to talk some KU
basketball, feel free to email me at njbetzen@ku.edu.
