Tom Maltese

My name is Tom Maltese and I am a second year student from DeWitt, Michigan. I graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While at Marquette, I completed a dual degree in Accounting and International Business, with a minor in Spanish Language and Literature. I was also highly involved in student organizations including Kappa Sigma Fraternity, the Interfraternity Council, Alpha Sigma Nu, and Hunger Clean-Up.

Upon graduation, I worked full-time at Johnson Controls, Inc. in Glendale, Wisconsin. At Johnson Controls I was an Associate International Internal Auditor and my work took me abroad to Mexico and Belgium on various occasions. I enjoyed my job, but realized that I would not be able to meet my long-term career goals without furthering my education. Deciding on attending law school was a difficult decision, but I am certain I made the correct choice.

I applied to numerous law schools across the United States and made the decision to attend KU Law because of the strength of the overall academic program and the ability to specialize in International Trade and Finance through of KU’s many certificate programs. This truly is a unique opportunity that very few law schools provide to their students. In addition, the atmosphere at KU Law is one that is supportive, yet challenging, focusing on student growth and development instead of cutthroat competition.

I strongly encourage you to attend KU Law and to come and visit our campus. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me at tmaltese@gmail.com.
