Megan McGinnis
My name is Megan McGinnis. I am a first year law student from Kansas City, Kansas. I graduated in
December of 2006 from the University of Kansas with a degree in Political Science.
Soon after graduation, I accepted an internship with Bet Tzedek Legal Services, a not-for-profit organization that
offers legal assistance to the poor in Los Angeles County, California. My internship with Bet Tzedek was a wonderful
opportunity. I was able to learn about public interest law, more specifically, about the type of work and kinds of
cases that are handled by legal aid attorneys. The experience made me even more eager to learn more about the law in
general and confirmed that I had in fact made the right decision when I decided to attend law school.
Choosing a law school is an important decision that involves many factors. One reason I chose the University of Kansas
School of Law, was because of the opportunity for involvement in public service through its many programs and clinics,
such as the Legal Aid Clinic and the Public Policy Clinic. The law school also offers great scholarship opportunities,
which is another reason why I chose KU.
I look forward to discussing with you all of what the KU Law has to offer. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at mjam1@ku.edu.
