Parag Mehta

My name is Parag Mehta and I am a first year law student from Stone Mountain, Georgia. I graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. While at Illinois State University, I completed a degree in Telecommunications Management. I was also highly involved in student organizations such as Student Government Association, Asian-Pacific American Coalition, Indian Student Association, and Guerrilla Theatre.

After graduating, I did not know if I wanted to pursue a law degree. I contemplated whether to apply immediately after graduation or gain some professional experience. I chose to gain some professional experience and landed a full-time position with Accenture based out of Atlanta, Georgia. At Accenture, I was a Consultant, mainly dealing with compliance & law for capital market firms. My work took me too many different places on a weekly basis like Richmond, Virginia, Cincinnati, Ohio, New York, New York, St. Louis, Missouri, Chicago, Illinois, Pune, India and many more. My job was a great, but after working for a few years, I decided law is my true passion.

I had no idea where I wanted to end up for law school. I am a numbers guy and had comparisons beyond anyone’s imagination. I kept visiting schools left and right, but at the end, I followed my gut feeling. Without a doubt, I made the right choice! KU Law has plenty to offer academically, but for me, it was the people. From my work experience, I learned that you can tell a lot by the environment of an organization, and that environment is made by the people in the organization. Every time I step into Green Hall, all the people are approachable and friendly. From professors to fellow students, they are all ready to help you with anything.

I really encourage you to attend KU Law and to check out the campus. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at pmmehta@ku.edu.
