Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi

Hi, my name is Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi.
Each person looks for different things in the law school he /she will like to attend, especially as that simple decision of choosing a law school now will impact the future greatly. I was looking for a Law School with a friendly atmosphere, communality, and great rapport among the faculty and students. Even though I searched with many schools, I didn’t need to travel here twice before deciding that KU Law School is the best choice I can make.
I was born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa. I attended Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree in 1998. After that, I worked with the Human Rights Law Firm of Fred Agbaje & Co, in Lagos Nigeria. I came to the United States in 2001. I worked for 4 years as a paralegal in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) of the United States Army. I was deployed to Iraq for one year during my service in the U.S Army. I completed my service with the Army in May 2006. I felt highly encouraged to go back to Law school based on my interaction with the JAG attorneys that I worked with and the great work they do.
There are many reasons that a good student should choose KU School of Law. Minorities always feel a sense of belonging; the Law School is highly competitive in terms of what you gain during and after Law School here; there are career officers working round the clock to get you the best job out there; and numerous big Law firms recruit here all the time. You have many career paths in Law you could choose from. Among the students though there is no strong sense of stiff competitions that is the problem with so many other Law Schools. The professors are always there to help you-all the time. The environment is just relaxed, and that is bringing out the best in everyone here; we see each others as friends and colleagues and not as competitors. Lawrence is a very cool and relaxed environment. I live in Topeka, the capital city of Kansas, and I love it. Kansas City is just a few miles away. The opportunities around here are just endless.
It’s clear that the KU Law School was planted in an environment that would bring out the best in everyone. There are just too many great reasons you should consider KU School of Law!!! If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at oyedemilaw1@yahoo.com.
