Application Procedures


In order to apply for admission to the University of Kansas School of Law, you must:

  • Complete a Bachelor's Degree
  • Take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
  • Register with the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS)
  • Submit a Complete Application
      Submit to KU Law online or by mail

Complete a Bachelor's Degree

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution prior to the date of official enrollment in law school is required for admission to the Law School.

Take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT)

We recommend taking the LSAT in June, September, and December. For more information about the LSAT, please visit www.lsac.org.

Register With the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS)

The LSDAS distributes materials to thew law schools to which the applicant applies. These materials include letters of recommendation, transcripts, and your LSAT score.

Submit a complete application before February 1 for scholarship priority. All other applications must be submitted by March 15th.

  • 2008 Application Form
    • Electronic application submission is to be completed on the LSAC website. The application is available here. Applying online allows applications to be processed more quickly, though we accept written applications. Downloadable applications are avaliable here.

  • 2 Letters of Recommendation
    • We require a minimum of two letters of recommendation. We welcome up to three letters of recommendation.

  • Personal Statement
    • The personal statement should be no longer than three pages long, double spaced, twelve point font with 1 inch margins. The personal statement must be written by the applicant.

  • $50 Application Fee
    • The application fee is non refundable; checks should be made payable to the University of Kansas School of Law. We accept credi card payments if submitted with a Certification Letter from the LSAC or with our application form.

    • Fee waivers may be requested through the Office of Admissions. Please email admitlaw@ku.edu or call 866-220-3654. If you have recieved a fee waiver, please write your LSAC number on the fee waiver form and mail it to the Office of Admissions.
