Bar Exam

Multistate Professional Responsibility Bar (MPRE)

Almost all jurisdictions require that the applicant present an acceptable score on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE). This exam is separately administered three times per year, in March, August and November.

Most students will sit for this exam upon completing a course in Professional Responsibility. Each jurisdiction establishes their own passing score and requirements for accepting scores from other jurisdictions, and therefore students should check with the board of bar examiners in the state in which they intend to practice. Registration packets for the MPRE are available in the Office of Career Services, and students may also register online.

  • Kansas: scaled score of 80 prior to or within 180 days of taking the Kansas Bar Exam.
  • Missouri: scaled score of 80 within one year after date of written notification of passing the Missouri Bar Exam.

Professional Responsibility (PR)

This required course must be completed by the time the student finishes 60 hours of law school. Applicants will not be able to take the MPRE until this course has been completed.
