Employers
We recognize that sound recruiting and hiring practices mean investment of your valuable time and efforts. We also understand that you expect a tangible return from that investment. The Office of Career Services offers you services that support cost-effective and efficient hiring. We provide a number of options to help you hire new associates, summer clerks, school-year interns, and graduates.
How Our Program Functions
First,
we can arrange for you to come on campus to interview our students.
To register for on-campus interviews, please complete this simple Request for Services form. If you would like additional information about scheduling on-campus
interviews, please call our office at (785) 864-4377, or e-mail
us at tarogers@ku.edu.
If you are unable to conduct on-campus interviews, we will advertise
your interest in receiving student resumes and will collect and
forward the resumes to you. If you prefer, we can instruct the students
to send their resumes directly to you. Finally, we regularly post announcements
of job openings for summer law clerks, entry level associates, and
school-year interns. If you have a job opening available, you
may submit it to the Office of Career Services by clicking here or
by faxing the opening to (785) 864-5701. The openings are posted on our website, which is updated on a daily basis, and in our weekly and monthly
Jobhawker newsletters. There is no charge for these
valuable services.

The Students
The KU School of Law is proud of its students. The men and women who study law in Green Hall are committed to the profession. They have high academic credentials and rank among the very best in the Midwest. Entering class statistics show that their median LSAT is 157 and median undergraduate GPA is 3.45. The five hundred students who currently attend the KU Law were chosen from more than 3800 applicants. Many students have advanced degrees. Diversity in the student body is significant. Seventeen percent of the students belong to a minority group and more than forty percent are women.
What We Teach
The
primary mission of the KU School of Law is to prepare students for
practice in the legal profession. The prescribed legal courses in
the first year focus on a general education in the law as well as
on the details of legal rules and practices.
In the second year, students are introduced to statutory law and to the critical interpretation of legislation, such as the Internal Revenue Code, the Uniform Commercial Code, and the National Labor Relations Act.
The KU School of Law has developed innovative clinical
programs to provide the students with an opportunity to gain insights
into the practice of law as well as to perform significant community
services. These include the Paul E. Wilson Defender Project, which
provides services for indigent inmates in Kansas, and the
Legal
Aid Clinic which operates for the benefit of indigent clients in
Douglas County. This means that long before graduation, the students
have been exposed to the practical side of effective lawyering.
