Building future generations of diverse legal professionals
June 3-9, 2012
Funding Opportunities
Journey to J.D. is funded entirely through private support. The cost per student to attend the one-week program is $1,500. Please partner with KU Law in our efforts to increase the pool of diverse, well-educated prospective legal employees by sponsoring students to attend this program.
Program Benefits
The Journey to J.D. program ...
- encourages underserved students to attend college and pursue a legal degree.
- gives students a basic understanding of the legal system.
- engages current law students as teachers.
- involves area alumni to serve as mentors and positive role models.
- exposes students to judges and the court system.
- explores tools to succeed in college and law school.
- provides opportunities to meet law alumni from all fields of law, including attorneys, judges and business leaders.
- teaches interviewing skills.
- enables students to experience a college campus.

"The long-term mentoring component of this program will make a tremendous difference in these students' lives, encouraging them to seek higher education opportunities. As the law school reaches out to diverse students, teaching them how and why a law degree is attainable, this program will not only benefit the students involved but also our community as a whole."
