The required casebook is Lynn M. LoPucki & Elizabeth Warren, Secured Credit: A Systems Approach (Aspen, 6th ed., 2009). The recommended statutebook is Elizabeth Warren, Bankruptcy and Article 9 (Aspen, 2009). You may use a different statutebook if it has current versions of these statutes: (1) Articles 1 and 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, (2) the Uniform Motor Vehicle Certificate of Title and Anti-Theft Act, and (3) the Bankruptcy Code. The 2008 versions of the recommended statutebook and the Comprehensive Commercial Law statutebook (by Mann, Warren & Westbrook) have the current versions of these statutes. Also required is a short photocopied supplement available at the KU Burge Union bookstore. For the first day of class, the assignment is to read the table of contents and introduction of the casebook.

I except you to research the problem and generate a tentative answer to Problem 1 before class. I will bring the printed sources we'll need to formulate an answer to class and illustrate the process to you step-by-step. We'll also focus on other administrative and judicial sources of tax law, but will reserve for a later chapter any in-depth discussion of these topics. Please be considerate to other students when using the sources in the library. Reshelve the source promptly and in its proper location.
