Richard Levy joined the KU Law faculty in 1985, having received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and served as a clerk for Judge Richard Posner, U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit. In teaching and research, he has focused on constitutional law and public law. He has a particular interest in government institutions, legislation, and public policy analysis. He was responsible for redrafting the University Senate Rules and Regulations relating to grievances and his expert advice has been sought on a number of occasions when he has testified before state legislative committees on issues ranging from flag burning through reorganization of the board of agriculture to campaign financing reform. He is a prolific scholar who was named a Postlethwaite Research Fellow, 1996-1999. Levy is fluent in German and has studied in Germany and served as exchange professor at the University of Vienna.
