It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the University of Kansas School of Law Wheat Law Library. The library is named in honor of the University of Kansas School of Law's esteemed alumnus Douglas D. Wheat, graduate of the class of 1974. Mr. Wheat and his wife, Laura, created an endowed fund to support the law school and, in particular, the law library. The library was named the Douglas D. and Laura L. Wheat Law Library at a ceremony in Green Hall on April 23, 2003.

With its collection of more than 350,000 volumes, the Wheat Law Library is the largest law library in Kansas. The library's primary mission is to support the study, teaching and research needs of the faculty and students of the law school and university. Its hallmark is excellent service for students and faculty members. The library is also an important research facility for attorneys, legal writers and the Lawrence community as well as visiting scholars from around the globe.

We welcome you to come into our library to browse through our stacks, engage in extensive research and to enjoy our rich collection. We house everything from historical state and federal documents to futuristic materials about tomorrow's international and global legal settings. We encourage you to ask any library employee for assistance or information. Feel free to make suggestions which will assist us in improving our services or collection.
