The University of Kansas School of Law welcomes transfer applications. The Admissions Committee considers the following standards when reviewing applications for admission with advanced standing:
1. A transfer generally can be made only between the student's first and second year of law school.
2. A transfer applicant generally must have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average and an LSAT score that are equal to or greater than the median undergraduate grade point average and median score of the KU School of Law class with which the applicant would have entered as a first-year student.
3. A transfer applicant generally must have at least 25 credit hours of law school coursework and be in good academic standing at an ABA-accredited law school.
4. Upon admission, a $500 seat deposit is required. Seat deposit deadlines vary depending on when admission is granted, but not before April 1.
Transfer applications must be submitted by July 15. The Office of Admissions makes most admissions decisions by July 31. Download the application.

* Standard 505 provides: "Admission or re-evaluation may by granted a law student who has been previously disqualified for academics reasons, upon an affirmative showing that the student possesses the requisite ability and that the prior disqualification does not indicate a lack of capacity to complete the course of study at the admitting school. In the case of an admission to another law school this showing shall normally be made by letters from the dean of faculty of the school previously attended. A previously disqualified student may also be admitted when two or more years have elapsed since that disqualification and the nature of interim work, activity, or studies indicates a stronger potential for law study. In each case the admitting officer shall sign and place in the admittee's file a statement of the considerations that led to the decision to admit or readmit the applicant."
