Ahmed Alyousef

My name is Ahmed Alyousef. I am an S.J.D. student. I was born and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I graduated from Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud-Islamic University in Riyadh with Shari‘a (Islamic law) as a major. I first came to the United States of America in June 2001. I attended a language school in Edmond, Okla. Then I moved to Chanute, Kan., in 2002. A year later I moved to Kansas City, Mo., where I attended and received my Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. I began my J.D. at the University of Kansas School of Law in 2006. In 2009, I started working on my S.J.D.

I believe that coming to KU Law is one of the best decisions I have ever made for many reasons. Briefly, I found the Two-Year J.D. Program for Foreign-Trained Lawyers as well as the S.J.D. KU Law also offers certificates in International Trade and Finance, as well as in Business and Commercial Law, areas in which I could see myself practicing.

Being a foreign student and studying law in the U.S. is not an easy matter, but KU Law has made this challenge very simple. KU faculty, staff and students are like a family and always make me feel at home. I believe that KU Law presents a great way to fulfill my responsibility by helping others through service and education. I have learned to carry out this social responsibility to the society in which I live.

There are so many organizations and activities around campus in which I have frequently participated, including the Muslim Law Students Association, International Law Students Association, Global Lawyers Society, Public Interest Law Society and many others. There will always be something that fits you one way or another around KU and Lawrence.

I strongly encourage each of you to visit our law school and observe the beautiful and friendly environment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail or meet with me at any time. My e-mail address is saudilaw@ku.edu.
