Lauren Douville

Hi! My name is Lauren Douville, and I am a third-year law student from Kansas City, Kan. I currently serve as an Articles Editor for the Kansas Law Review, and I am involved in KU Law's Student Ambassador Program. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I earned a bachelor's of science in biology. Although my undergraduate major was rather unconventional for someone considering law school, I feel that it has prepared me well for the critical thinking and research skills so beneficial to studying the law.

I was thrilled when I found that I could incorporate my interest in the sciences, ethics and policy development into an education at KU Law. My interest in health law and policy attracted me to the various opportunities that KU offers, such as participating in the Family Health Care Legal Services Clinic, which is one of 12 clinics and externships in which KU Law students can participate. Additionally, I knew I wanted to attend a school where the students were friendly, intelligent and willing to help one another; KU Law students have all of these qualities. There is a healthy dose of competition at KU, which makes students serious, but also comfortable in their learning environment.

The open-door policy allows students to easily access their professors, which I believe is an essential aspect of learning the law successfully. Lastly, the education at KU Law is exceptionally affordable, both for in-state and out-of-state students, which is something that I believe all KU Law students can benefit from.

I would strongly encourage anyone interested in studying the law to visit KU. The university and the city of Lawrence have so much to offer. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at douville@ku.edu.
