Amanda Ferguson

Hello! My name is Amanda Ferguson, and I am a second-year law student from Lincoln, Neb. I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2009 with a bachelor’s in business administration. My career path was up in the air until my junior year of college, when I spent a semester working at the Nebraska Legislature. Working at the Legislature got me excited about the law and its application to our everyday lives, and I found myself more interested in the activity at the Legislature than in my classes. When it came time to start thinking seriously about my plans after graduation, I knew law school would help me find a career that truly interested me.

Throughout the law school application process, I remained unsure of which school I would choose until I visited Green Hall. Visits helped me see the whole picture of a school, and I liked what I saw at KU. The environment in Green Hall seemed friendly and challenging at the same time, and I quickly noticed how the students and professors were engaged in learning while still enjoying themselves. Many aspects of KU Law caught my attention, but the welcoming atmosphere in Green Hall distinguished KU from every other school.

As a student, my expectations of KU Law were quickly surpassed. I’ve gotten involved in the school through the variety of student organizations and met some great friends along the way. To further my interest in health law, I have worked at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and participated in the school’s Family Health Care Legal Services Clinic. The faculty and staff at KU have provided me with resources and encouragement during every step I’ve taken in law school. As a result, I feel well-prepared for my future after KU Law.

I encourage you to visit and experience Green Hall for yourself. Please feel free to contact me at amandacferguson@gmail.com with any questions or concerns. Good luck!
