Aubrey Wilson

Hi! My name is Aubrey Wilson and I am a first-year law student from Shawnee, Kan. I graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2011 with a bachelor’s in French and economics.

My interest in joining the legal profession stemmed from a couple of different experiences. As a high school student, I began clerking for two small Overland Park bankruptcy law firms, and continued doing so during my breaks in college. While I wasn’t interested in bankruptcy law, I started to feel comfortable in the legal world, and I liked the idea of having a career that allowed me to interact with people and help them on a daily basis. Later in college I spent a semester in France, and I during this time I did some research and realized that my strengths and passions were well suited to both law school and a legal career.

I applied to several different law schools around the country, but ultimately I decided that KU was perfect for me. I’m interested in possibly pursuing international law, and KU Law has one of the top international law programs in the country. I was also drawn to KU Law’s wide variety of clinics and externships, which I knew would allow to me to gain valuable experience before hitting the job market.

After taking two of my first-year courses this summer through the summer start program, I can honestly say that I love it here at Green Hall. The sense of camaraderie between the students is great, and the faculty is extremely accessible and helpful. My classes have been interesting and exciting, and I can’t wait to see where they take me!

I hope you’ll think about visiting KU Law firsthand to get a feel for the school and to learn more about what makes it so special. Choosing which law school to attend can be an overwhelming decision, so feel free to contact me at aubreylw@ku.edu with any questions or concerns you might have along the way. I hope to hear from you (and see you around Green Hall) very soon!
