Hello all! My name is Desireé Duke, and I am a 3L here at KU Law. I am originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and attended Arizona State University for my undergrad. I obtained a degree in justice studies with a minor in women & gender studies and certificates in socio-legal studies and human rights.

I knew from a relatively young age that a career in law was a career for me. With a lawyer as a mother, I was raised surrounded by conversations of law and justice. As I grew older, I realized these conversations were the only conversations I wanted to be a part of. My mother’s passion for the law was passed on to me, and law school was the only logical step to allow that passion to flourish.

When I made the decision to attend law school, I simultaneously decided to pack my bags, leave my family and friends behind, and follow “wherever the universe decided to take me.” The universe has yet to fail me, and its placement of me at KU Law was no exception. I am surrounded by an invaluable community of individuals who constantly push me to be better and support me in all my endeavors. Law school can be hard, but the KU Law community constantly reminds me I am never alone.

I am so excited to be a KU Law Student Ambassador and hope to see you all in Green Hall. Rock Chalk!
