Hello! My name is Rossiel Reyes Enriquez, and I am a 1L from Great Bend, Kansas. I graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in International Literary and Visual Studies with concentrations in Japanese and Latin American literature.

I became interested in law at a young age by seeing my family’s interaction with the law. This included witnessing how difficult it was to access legal resources in the immigration process and how unfair the legal system can be, especially towards BIPOC folx. Being in central Kansas only amplified these problems, often requiring us to travel for hours to Wichita or Kansas City. Because of this, my goal has always been to return to my community and become an asset, and law school seemed like the best way to do that.

In my law school search, KU Law stood out because it is close to my family and offers numerous opportunities to get the most out of law school. Additionally, my interactions with the student ambassadors during the admitted students weekend showed me how kind and supportive everyone is and affirmed my decision to attend.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! I understand how challenging the process can be, especially as a first-generation, low-income student, where it can often feel like our identities impede our access to higher education. I hope my experiences can guide your search and reassure you that we belong in these spaces.

I look forward to speaking with y’all!
