Hey there! My name is Will, and I am a 1L here at KU Law. I received my BA from KU in English back in 2015.

I grew up all over the country, and as such often struggled to answer the question of where I am from. I spent my childhood in Colorado, Texas and New York, but I was raised by a family of Jayhawks and knew my whole life that I belonged at KU. I even studied trombone as a music student because that was the instrument you see on TV when watching KU basketball games.

Even knowing that I wanted to be a Jayhawk, I never imagined how important the city of Lawrence would become to me. I fell in love with this wonderful community back in 2011 during my freshman year, and when I graduated, I knew I had found my home. Now, when I am asked where I am from, I answer "Lawrence, Kansas."

I spent eight years working every possible job one could imagine following graduation. I learned a deep reverance for diversity in community. The work I did, and the city I did it in, taught me that above all, I value the people around me and the experiences we create together.

This love for Lawrence, and my desire to forge a place in the community that had given so much to me, led me to pursue a degree at KU Law. I feel it is the best way for me to apply the skills and experiences I've developed to provide for and celebrate the incredible array of people I have found here.

I wholeheartedly welcome you to the KU Law community. It is rich, diverse, and beautiful. I would be thrilled to speak to the non-traditional student experience, or to have an opportunity to describe the town and university I adore. I look forward to meeting you.
